Elementary Lead Guide

The guide’s main role will be to move learners on a journey to understand and develop their most precious gifts, help them discover their deepest passions, and how to use them to serve others in a meaningful way that brings them joys. We believe our learners will go on to change the world in a profound way.

Position Description: The Lead Guide will work with the founders to: 

  • Affirm students, holding them accountable to their promises and to delivering “the best work they can do” as they discover and pursue a calling on a hero’s journey.
  • Create meaningful exhibitions, ceremonies, and celebrations that reinforce the rules of engagement, personal and group covenants to provide and strengthen a safe learning community.
  • Act as a role model as an independent learner on a hero’s journey.
  • Launch and lead Socratic discussions.
  • Create and launch quests (projects), including daily challenges and curating world-class examples.
  • Supply studio environment and set up the studio as inspiration for learning.
  • Incorporate Montessori materials and lessons into ‘core skills’ work time. Observe and track each child’s progress.
  • Encourage young heroes to track their progress and create portfolios to show parents, peers and apprenticeship employers what they can do.
  • Uphold promises to students, parents, and fellow Guides made in relational covenants.
  • Pass along each of these responsibilities to students as quickly as possible, so as to allow students to lead themselves.

Qualifications: 

  • Knowledgeable in Montessori and Project-Based Methodology.
  • Project-based and/or experiential learning training is helpful.
  • A deep curiosity about life and love of lifelong learning.
  • Innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Proven excellence in written and oral communication skills.
  • Evident passion for being on a hero’s journey.

This is a position for an independent learner who can work with little direct guidance; someone who likes to collaborate, experiment, evaluate and continually improve; someone who has a deep respect for all children believing that each human has genius within; and someone who is a flexible problem-solver. It is essential that this person can learn fast, loves to work hard and is an active reader and writer.

We run an 11-month program with seven 6-week sessions in our learning studios. The Guide will be expected to work five days a week. We are closed for 6 weeks in the summer (the month of August.). The Guide will work through the summer to prepare the studio environment for the following school year and perform other administrative tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: negotiable 

Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Summer Camp: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Montessori Guide: 1 year (Preferred)

Assistant Guide

Assistant/Apprentice Guide (Elementary, Ages 7-11)

Wonders Academy in Warsaw, IN is seeking an assistant/apprentice guide to work in the afternoons (1:00-5:00 p.m.).

About Wonders Academy

Wonders Academy is a Montessori-based elementary, an innovative school that guides each child on a journey to discover a calling and change the world.

Wonders Academy is a new school that will open this September, so this is an opportunity to be an integral part of the building of an innovative, game-changing school.

This is an all-day program (8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.).

Wonders Academy is an independent affiliate of Acton Academy, founded in 2009 in Austin, Texas. The Acton network includes dozens of "learner-driven" schools across the United States and around the world.

Position Description

The assistant/apprentice guide will join a new, all-day classroom. She/he will help guide the Herons, while adhering to the Socratic method. The position offers opportunities for growth into a full-time position, professional development, and advancement.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a deep curiosity about life, a lifelong love of learning, and an entrepreneurial spirit (must thrive in a startup environment). She/he will be responsible for facilitating a nurturing and joyful studio culture. We seek someone who has:

  • Montessori training (ideal but not required).
  • Experience working with students ages 7-11.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and desire to experiment, evaluate, and improve on everything she/he does.
  • A willingness to be coached and mentored.
  • An understanding of the Montessori philosophy.
  • A deep respect for all children.
  • A strong teamwork ethic, a genuine desire to collaborate with colleagues, and a steadfast sense of professionalism.
